Who am I?
I am a wife of a volunteer fireman and a resident of Middletown. If you visit our home, you will be greeted enthusiastically by our three dogs Oscar, Maggie and Layla. We love spending time outdoors with our family and friends. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running and spending time at the beach.
Middletown is my professional family that I was lucky to become a part of in February 2015. I am looking forward to spending many more years here.
I started my career as an itinerant teacher of the blind and visually impaired in Broward County, Florida. I worked with students from elementary aged through high school. I provided instruction in braille as well as technology to the students, and consultative services to school staff and families. I then moved back to New Jersey to be closer to my family and continued my career with the New Jersey Commission for the Blind. I provided braille instruction and low vision services as well as early intervention services to students and families throughout Northern New Jersey. I was presented with the opportunity to create a program for students with multiple disabilities in the Kenilworth School District. I spent five years building this program which included instruction in all subject areas, community based instruction, life skills, and social skills.
During all of these transitions I continued my education to support my professional efforts. I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education with a concentration in visual impairment from Kutztown University. I then continued on to Kean University to receive my Masters Degree in Special Education. I am currently enrolled in Fairleigh Dickinson University in a multi-sensory reading training program.
I look forward to using my experiences and educational background to help the students at Leonardo Grade School reach their potential!
